I Am Educator! Hear Me Roar!!!

Today was PERFECT. I have the pleasure of completing my internship under the guidance of an amazing woman, Mrs. Corrine Richardson.  From day TWO, she has been trying to ease me into the role of educator. Marriage Memo Mondays: REMEMBERING WHY…

love-inspirational-daily
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind.
~Shakespeare

In the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives sometimes we forget. Sure, we see our husbands and wives daily. Yes, we know that we love them. BUT sometimes, we forget why. The good ol’ days become a memory and the excitement we USED to feel dwindles.

But… this holiday season we can turn that all around!

This holiday season, in the midst of tragedy, we can focus our attention on our marriages like never before. We know that tomorrow is not promised and in that knowledge, we can find solace in knowing we can show our undying LOVE for our spouses TODAY.

I remember when I first fell in love with my husband. If you ask my friends, they would say it was automatic. The very first day I saw him in high school, sitting on the steps during lunch, wearing a black hoodie, and talking with his friends (who weren’t nearly as attractive as him lol)) I felt this unexplainable magnetism. I was drawn to him… and it is quite possible that it was because he was one hot cookie— but it could also be because we were meant to be from the beginning.

In that good ol’ Adam & Eve way…

I remember our first kiss… months into our relationship, in the 3rd floor stairwell after school.  I remember the butterflies… the inability to hide my toothy grin. I remember the embarrassment of running from him once it was over. ((What a geek! Lol))

I remember the day I made him cry for the very first time…

I remember graduation day… walking across that stage knowing we were sharing that moment together.

I remember crying when I went away to college thinking our relationship would be over…

I remember his gentle assurance that what we had would never end…

And 9 years later… his words still ring true.

But sometimes we get caught up. Sometimes we get so overwhelmed with the roles we have been chosen to play… mommy and daddy, employee, student, son, daughter, friend. Sometimes it gets overwhelming. Sometimes the problems are many and the kisses are few. Sometimes it seems like a much more sensible solution to just throw in the towel. It’s not always easy to forgive… not always easy to let go… not always easy to be IN love or to experience UNCONDITONAL LOVE.

But… when we allow ourselves to remember the “good ol’ days”, the late night conversations on the phone, the passionate kisses, the heartfelt glances, the fluttering of the butterflies, the overwhelming, unexplainable, uncontrollable JOY— when we remember where we began, and look at all our journey is comprised of, we realize WHY we are married.

We remember WHY we exchanged vows…

and WHY we promised each other ’til death before God and our witnesses.

We remember WHY…

On March 9, 2009, I married my best friend. I married a man who I know without question LOVES me to pieces. I married a man with flaws… many, many, many flaws (lol), but a man who has been there for me and with me through many personal trials I experienced. I married a man who I love deeply for his passion, his ambition, his drive, his laughter, his smile. I married a man with potential to conquer the world but instead, took the time to conquer my heart.

This holiday season, I remember WHY I fell in love with my husband.

And as the butterflies flutter softly, it is that remembrance that will keep my smiling into 2013.

Gifts are great… and yes, Santa does visit adults too! But this holiday season, remind your husband or wife WHY they fell in love with you. Let December be a month of EXTRA kisses and hugs. Strive to avoid going to bed angry… even if only for this month lol Hold hands when riding in the car. Leave notes around just saying ‘I love you’. Be passionate. Be sweet. Be mushy like back in the good ol’ days. Make love. ♥

So tell me…

Why did you fall in love? Why did you get married?
