Obama Is BLACK? I Didnt Notice…

One of life’s taboo topics is POLITICS. It is improper to discuss politics because everyone has different opinions, views, and values— which they are fully entitled to— and a difference of opinion ((political party)) may result in ill feelings and hostile environments.

Someone who cares would avoid discussing politics at all costs…

Hi. My name is Arnetta and I do not care. 🙂

My coworker (a recent immigrant) and I had an interesting discussion about politics. Our job provides our guests with complimentary newspapers. I helped myself to today’s Miami Herald ((the BIIIIIIIIG coupon-filled Sunday edition #SCOOOOORE!!!)) and one of the cover stories caught his eye.

It read:

“A dead heat (again) in Florida”

The subtitle explained that the article would discuss the tight presidential race between Obama and Romney and how both candidates are pretty equally favored in Florida. Curiously, he asked who I was voting for. My response— and the CORRECT response lol— “OBAMA, of course”. It was then that my darling coworker asked the question AAAAAAAAAAAAALL people of other descent ask (or want to ask) black people when they profess their support of our darling and AMAZING President.

“Is it because he is black?”

Without pause, I answered the way everyone asked this question should—

“Obama is BLACK? Really. I didnt notice”

*Insert serious face”

He smiled.

Being new to the country, he doesnt understand the political aspect of America just yet. He doesnt understand how IMPORTANT voting is— because in his country, although different political parties exist- they are equal for the most part. Here? Heck no! There is a MAJOR difference in Republicans and Democrats. You will rarely, if ever, find a democrat voting for a Republican because they stand for TOTALLY different things. However, in the very special and history-making case of President Obama— Republicans will vote for Democrats.

Admittedly, I have NEVER voted Republican. On EVERY ballot, I find the DEM next to a candidate’s name and mark my vote. Do I know about EVERY Democratic candidate– of course not. Unfortunately, I dont follow politics religiously. However, I am very well-informed about what I expect and desire for my life and I am aware that Republicans have a seperate agenda.

Did I vote for Obama because he is black? Originally, yes! Of course I did. Im black! My ancestors were slaves in the same fields of his ancestors. Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed of this moment. The entire civil war movement led us to that pivotal place where we could FINALLY be viewed as AMERICANS— where blacks could fulfill the ULTIMATE role in America and become PRESIDENT of these great UNITED STATES!

BUT… that is NOT why I will vote for him THIS ELECTION!

At this point, it is beyond him being black.

Eve n though that is the reason he has been

tried, disrespected, ridiculed, and fought tooth and nail on EVERY bill he has attempted to pass.

I will VOTE FOR OBAMA this election because HE IS AMAZING! He has been the best president since I became old enough to know the importance of great leadership. He has fulfilled countless promises made during his campaign– and has fought endlessly to make sure EVERY AMERICAN is given the same opportunity to live an abundant life. We foster the same beliefs— that the rich should NOT get richer while the poor continues to live in poverty.

I directed him to this amazing website— http://whattheheckhasobamadonesofar.com/ — which provides visitors with a crash course in Obama AWESOMEness.

A few of HIS success stories—

Provided the Department of Veterans Affairs with more than $1.4 billion to improve services to America’s Veterans
Signed the Children’s Health Insurance Reauthorization Act, which provides health care to 11 million kids — 4 million of whom were previously uninsured
Issued executive order to repeal Bush era restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research
Signed the Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Act, the first piece of comprehensive legislation aimed at improving the lives of Americans living with paralysis
Signed the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act to stop fraud and wasteful spending in the defense procurement and contracting system
Issued executive order to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay
Increased minority access to capital
Health Care Reform Bill, preventing insurance companies from denying insurance because of a pre-existing condition
Health Care Reform Bill, allowing children to remain covered by their parents’ insurance until the age of 26
Expansion of Medicaid to all individuals under age 65 with incomes up to 133 percent of the federal poverty level
Added 4.6 billion USD to the Veterans Administration budget to recruit and retain more mental health professionals
Significantly increased funding for the Violence Against Women Act
Lifted restrictions granting Cuban Americans unrestricted rights to visit family and send remittances to the island
Eliminated subsidies to private lender middlemen of student loans and protect student borrowers
Significantly expanded Pell grants, which help low-income students pay for college
Expanded hate crime law in the US to include sexual orientation through the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act
The sooner we all face reality that Obama has accomplished A LOT during his short 4-year term…
the sooner we can head to the polls and vote for him to REMAIN in the White House where he undoubtedly belongs.
Mitt Romney is NO competition.
His ideals are flawed
His promises are clearly loaded with bull crap.
Mitt Romney represents those selfish individuals only interested in their personal wealth, success, and happiness.
Mitt Romney is Bush reincarnated.
He didnt give a crap about US ((the little people— not the black people lol)) and neither does this guy.
So… not only is my President black—
and an EXCELLENT EXAMPLE for young men and women all over the world.
If you dont want to vote for him because he is black…
pick one of those reasons and run with it all the way to the voting booth!
